Off Loom Weaving

Description:  Off Loom Weaving is a free form, often whimsical way of creating fibre art. There is an opportunity for one’s imagination to take flight or to create a conventional landscape using a variety of techniques, stitches, and embellishments to build a unique tapestry of texture and colour.

PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN how to warp a circular loom. We will explore a variety of stitches and techniques for adding depth and texture to the piece. There will be opportunities to add embellishments to the weaving. And finally, the participants will learn how to finish their newly created work of art.

PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE the opportunity to create two weavings, one, an 8” sampler, and the second either an 8” or 12” design of their own.

THERE IS A TWO-WEEK interval between classes to allow enough time to complete the sampler and make significant progress on the second weaving.
