Mastering Woollen and Worsted Spinning Techniques with Janice Watterworth

Woollen and Worsted Spinning methods are the cornerstones to all spinning techniques. They are similar to knit and purl stitches in knitting. Once mastered, you can spin/knit anything. We will learn how to spin fluffy, airy woollen yarns and hard-wearing worsted yarns. Additional topics will be processing fibre, suggested projects for each technique, spinning ergonomics and spinning for speed and consistency. Spinning fibre will be supplied.
Bring your questions and your wheel in good working condition, three bobbins, a lazy kate, niddy noddy and hand carders. Don’t forget your lunch.
Class cost: $50 members; $55 non-members
Material Fee: $15 per participant, payable to instructor in class.

Beginner Spindle Spinning with Janice Watterworth
Saturday, March 23, 2019. 10:00 – noon
Have you ever wanted to try spinning your own yarn and using it for knitting, crocheting or weaving? A hand spindle is a simple and portable spinning tool which provides unlimited yarn possibilities. You will learn to spin a single and then will discover three techniques to ply your yarn on a drop spindle. This class will include different types of spindles and suitability for different types of yarns.
Suitable for beginners. No spinning experience required.
Bring your own drop spindle or one can be purchased from instructor $15.
Class cost: $20 members; $25 non-members
Material Fee: $5 per participant, payable to instructor in class.

 Dorset button making with Meg Cheesman

Would you like to make buttons that match your knitted, woven, or crocheted projects? Dorset buttons can be made from the same fibres that you used in your garment and can be functional as well as ornamental. In this class you will learn how to make a basic Dorset button and look at the range of possibilities for customizing your buttons. Yarn and other equipment will be provided.
Class cost: $20 members; $25 non-members
No material fee



 Members of the guild are provided with all the equipment required and can take equipment home to work on between classes.

 FEE:   $245.00 for members; $300.00 for non-members.  (Membership fee is: $55.00/year)

Cost includes MATERIAL FEE; All weaving equipment is provided
