After a summer break, we have reconvened and started another year of Guild activities. Here are a few pictures featuring our guest speaker, Paddy Robertson. Paddy is a textile artist with a wide range of experience, from sewing intricate Irish Dancing costumes, Stratford Festival costuming, fanciful children’s costumes to woven leather bags. Her work is very interesting and her presentation certainly was inspiring.
Incoming President Marion Jackson Tyler led the meeting. We were reminded of the upcoming FAFS show in November. Work continues by the Executive Committee on a number of fronts such as the Memorial project, Archives, setup of Committees as per the Constitution and recruiting for vacancies on the Executive.
Lynda King encouraged the membership to consider volunteering for positions. We are in need of a Vice President. If we cannot fill this position, there will be no President for the 2019-2020 year. Also, not filling our Executive positions means we are in danger of losing our Charter. This means anyone could use our guild name, and we also would lost some credibility with the City of London, when negotiating for use of space in the new facility. These are serious concerns as we enter into another year.
Our program is set for the Fall/Winter season, and plans are in hand for the Christmas social meeting.
Classes and Workshops are also planned and lists are available for sign-up, or visit the areas of our web page for further information.
We encourage any interested members to submit articles, photos, etc. for the website. Enjoy the upcoming year.
